Client: John Lewis Plc
Project: Contractor Administration
The Contractor was appointed to refurbish the existing John Lewis Milton Keynes department store to create an entirely new look and feel to the customer shopping experience on a traditional basis. They progressed works to a point of near completion. Only non-essential outstanding and defective works from a trading perspective needed to be addressed, with a final account still to be agreed prior to the Contractor being put into administration.
The challenge was to secure agreement of the final account with the Administrator, Keenan CF, and to protect the interests of John Lewis Plc regarding the set-off cost of completing the outstanding works and any other costs incurred.
- Substantiated and agreed our valuation of the works properly completed by the Contractor
- Provided details of incomplete or defective works, substantiated and agreed the costs associated with rectifying the works
- Gave a full account of additional costs incurred by John Lewis Plc in achieving a satisfactorily completed project
- Negotiated a final account settlement, including full set-off of all costs incurred by John Lewis Plc with the Administrator
