Malling Brooks Unit F, Lewes
Client Name: North Street Quarter
Role: Cost Management, Project Management and Employer’s Agent
Unit F is the first of seven industrial units constructed on the Malling Brooks site. The warehouse included manufacturing, packaging and laboratory areas developed for John Gosnell and Son, one of the oldest family businesses in Lewes. The end-user was particular in their requirements for a high-quality production and packaging facility incorporating Cat 3 Laboratories for their bespoke pharmaceutical and food packaging.
The unit has one of Lewes’s most significant solar power and solar thermal installations, nestling on its sedum roof to reduce groundwater as it is constructed within a flood zone. As Project Manager, MGAC | RLF worked with the developer and the end-user to meet the client’s requirements and help reduce operational costs. The team managed stakeholder liaison with the residents who over-look the site, regularly producing newsletter updates to keep them informed of progress.
As it was a brownfield site, MGAC | RLF was required to work directly with all the utility suppliers and bring new utilities to the site, which included providing for a new UKPN sub-station.
