The Centre for Cancer Drug Discovery (CCDD) will house a global centre of expertise in anti-evolution therapies, aimed at outsmarting cancer to improve cure rates.

This pioneering approach relies on bringing together drug discovery and world-leading researchers from different disciplines into a single collaborative space – the aim being to overcome or redirect the whole process of cancer evolution.

The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) challenge was to create 7,000m2, world-class science and research space within strict funding boundaries, whilst delivering a sufficiently flexible solution to keep pace with the rapidly changing world of scientific technology.

 

Project Overview

Our Our Contribution

Finding support: We produced detailed option analyses to assist with funding applications and help inform ICR on the potential alternatives available within the campus.

Sector Expertise: RLF were pivotal in the selection of the procurement route and the Main Contractor.  Our longstanding relationship with ICR (and other clients in the sector), enabled us to leverage our deep knowledge and experience of the supply chain, materials and costs to complement the knowledge of the ICR Estates Team.

Cost Management and Stakeholder Engagement: We worked closely with ICR to manage the overall project cost as well as the construction budget to accord with the Board of Trustees, Investment Committee and UKRPIF requirements.

Post Contract Support: We worked alongside the ICR Estates Team to scope and manage the procurement of the Post Contract Modifications package of works – a discrete program of works to incorporate ICR’s final scientific requirements for the building.
